Come party with Young Playwright’s Theater at an unforgettable night of fun and celebration at our “Purple Promenade!” A chance to get prom right as an adult. We will be at metrobarDC on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 8pm – 11pm.
Whether your high school prom was spectacular, a spectacular failure, or you didn’t even go, you have a chance to do it your way as the unique person you are today. All ticket purchases and donations increase equitable access to theater arts education for young people across Greater Washington.

General Tickets are $75, or you can upgrade to Prom Royalty with the purchase of a $125 VIP ticket! For an additional $25, you can also add on a corsage/boutonniere or a special shout-out to your Prom date(s) in the program book.

What do I get for the $125 VIP Prom Royalty Ticket?
As Prom Royalty you will steal the show with your own Prom Royalty sash, a fun light-up cup, a special dedication to your sweetie(s) in the program book, and a professional prom portrait.
What is the dress code?
As long as it’s purple, wear what you always wanted with as much flair as you like. Sneakers and ball gowns? Sure. Purple bowtie and jeans? It’s your choice! A special superlative will be awarded to the most purple person at the party.
Can I bring my kids?
This is a 21+ event, so please bring your ID and leave your kids and teens at home.
What about pets?
Although pets are welcome at metrobar, they must be on a fixed length leash at all times (6’ max) and are not allowed in any interior spaces, such as the train car or bathrooms. We recommend leaving them at home due to the crowd, loud music, and lights.
Will there be food?
YPT will provide light snacks for guests. However, there will be two food trucks on site where guests can purchase additional items. We will update the event page with the specific trucks closer to the event.
What if it’s rainy or cold?
metrobar is well equipped to deal with lots of weather events. The railcar is heated, plus they enclose and heat the two large decks to keep you warm and cozy. There are also electric and gas heaters throughout as well as wood campfires.
Transportation and Parking
metrobar is just one block west of Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood metro station (Red Line), across the skybridge.
Paid parking is available in the Rhode Island Avenue Center directly adjacent to the venue and in the garage below.
Bathrooms
There is one gender neutral ADA-accessible bathroom in our space. Additional bathrooms are available for our use in other parts of the venue.
Smoking and vaping
metrobar is a NO SMOKING venue throughout the entire space, and does not permit cigarettes, cigars, vaping, marijuana, or smoking of any type.
What is your covid mask policy?
This is an outdoor event, and masks are not required. However, masks are welcome!
